Privacy Policy
The short version: this site has no cookies, no analytics, and no ads. It only collects what you choose to send me through a form, and I use it only for what you sent it for.
This policy covers mikreative.com. Chickadee and Plotboard have their own privacy policies, which cover what happens inside those apps.
Who I am
Mikreative is the studio of Mike Collins, a designer and developer in Rhode Island, USA. I'm responsible for the information you send through this site. Under the EU and UK GDPR, that makes me the “data controller.” You can reach me at mike@mikreative.com.
What I collect
- Contact form
- Your name, your email address, and your message.
- Plotboard waitlist
- Your email address.
- Server logs
- Like every web host, my host, Netlify, records basic technical details when someone visits, such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. They use this to run the service and keep it secure. I don't use these logs to track or profile anyone.
That's everything. I don't use cookies, analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising tools.
Why I use it
- Contact form: to read your message and reply. For GDPR, the legal basis is taking steps you asked for, plus my legitimate interest in answering people who write to me.
- Plotboard waitlist: to send you one email when Plotboard is ready. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw anytime.
- Server logs: to keep the site running and secure. The legal basis is legitimate interest.
I never sell your information, share it for advertising, or add you to a mailing list you didn't ask to join.
Who else handles it
- Netlify, Inc. hosts this site and receives form submissions. Netlify is based in the United States. See Netlify's privacy policy.
- My email provider receives form submissions when Netlify forwards them to me, and handles any email we exchange.
If the law requires it, I may also share information to comply with a valid legal request.
Where it's stored
Your information is stored and processed in the United States. If you're in the EU or UK, that means it leaves your country. Netlify covers these transfers in its data processing terms.
How long I keep it
- Waitlist emails: until I've sent the Plotboard launch email, and then I delete the list.
- Contact messages: for as long as we're in touch or working together, and then up to three years in case you write again. Ask, and I'll delete them sooner.
- Server logs: Netlify keeps these for a limited time, under its own policy.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can email me to:
- see what information I have about you,
- correct it,
- delete it,
- or leave the Plotboard waitlist.
I'll reply within 30 days, and usually much sooner. There's no charge.
If you're in the EU or UK, you also have the right to object to how I use your information, to ask me to limit it, and to get a copy you can take elsewhere. You can also complain to your local data protection authority, though I'd appreciate the chance to fix things first.
If you're in California, you have the same rights to see and delete your information. I don't sell or share personal information as California law defines it.
Do Not Track
This site doesn't track you, so there's nothing for a Do Not Track signal to turn off. It works the same either way.
Children
This site isn't meant for children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has sent me something, email me and I'll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, I'll update it here and change the date at the top. If a change affects how I use information you've already sent me, I'll email you about it first.
